Organizational Change and Development

Organization change refers to the process through which an organization optimizes its performance in order to become an ideal state. There are different reasons for implementing organizational change. From a passive perspective, the organizational change process is implemented as a response to the dynamic environment or in reaction to the present crisis. In contrast, according to a more proactive standpoint, organizational change is initiated by a progressive manager. It usually takes place when the existing system is no longer capable of meeting the demands of the external environment and a significant change is required in a short interval of time to keep the organization work. The most common known forms of evolutionary change include management by objectives, total quality management, and social-technical system theory. The emphasis of the socio-technical theory is on the significance of the technological and social aspects in an organization during the change process.

In a different context, this form of organizational change focuses on the development of the most optimal partnership among the technology and the workers of the organization. On the other hand, total quality management is a continuous and ongoing effort made by the organizations to discover new ways to enhance the quality of the organization’s services and goods. Management by objectives emphasizes the significance of the regular meeting between employees and management.
